Mask

Semalam sesi audologi klinikal di ORL/ENT/Ear Nose and Throat/ Othorinolaringology dan tanpa sahur. Masuk klinik, awal-awal Prof. Din dah hulur mask (is that really mask? Rupanya macam purdah actually). Haih! Mula nak buat muka. lemas.

Sepanjang sesi duduk berdoa bilalah bos besar nak buka mask dia. Klinik lengang. Medical student tak ada tapi ada 4 orang pelajar master termasuk The nice doctor from Iraq, Dr. Yahya. (Kalau Dr. Yahya tak boleh jawab, student lain lagilah. Some kind of ayat Dr. Yusri as approved by Prof. Din due to detail’ness’ answer from him. How excellent he is, right. :)). Lagi seronok kalau ada medical student kot. Sebab medical student sama tak tahu (oops jangan marah) dan tak akan evaluate aku juga.

“Audiologist. Sila estimate hearing patient without any audiological instrument. Just use whatever things you want as long as it’s here,”

Telan air iur.

Aku tolak Zu. Zu tolak Azah. Azah tolak aku semula.

“Kak Hudalah. Saya tak yakin dalam klinik ORL,”

I just feel the feeling when I don’t have the confidence and hoping someone else will rescue it from me. It’s somehow the best relief ever when someone helping me and I help them. Each other give and take.

It was Pediatric case ang arghh..!

“Adik, besi ni kejap lagi dia ada bunyi. Blaa bla bla,”

Diteruskan dengan Speech Voice Test (SVT) and blaa bla bla.

My heart was pumping  faster, dude. Not because Prof. Din was there. But because Master student was looking at me like nak makan aku. Hihihi. So scared!

“Awak tahu kenapa patient tak respond. Awak tak build rapport dulu. Patient mestilah takut dengan stranger. Memanglah awak kena buat test tapi bukan terus buat je. Tengok condition patient,”
“But the patient did respond to me. She was telling me which side she heard,”
“Of course-lah she did tell you. Berapa kali dia dah buat test ni,”

Muka merah. Merah ke? I was hoping to observe with medical student next time. :p

Dr. Yusri menunjukkan cara nak build rapport lepas tu. Tapi, patient memang dah takut kot. Prof. Din took over the session and end up with the child still remain silent and just nodding her head to answer.

“Dia memang pemalu dari kecil,”

Lega. Paling ternganga, habis je cek. Budak tu pergi dekat mak dia and sengih-sengih gelak. Dalam hati, budak ni nak kenakan aku ke? Hihihihi.

Aku paling malas nak buat PTA which the heart of audiological test. Thanks to Azah and Zu for giving their hands to replace me on doing that. Thanks thanks. Aku setuju dengan Prof. Din actually. Sometimes, by using instruments, patient hearing seems to be worst than clinical findings. So, how can I trust the test? But, whatever findings it will be, it has to be proved and testified on some objective or/and subjective tests to make sure its reliability.

What a human. Weakness.

Tapi. Bila Zu and Azah pergi ke PTA’s room and left me. Alone. Dr. Yusri memanggilku semula one-to-one in a clinic with a patient without Prof. Din yang aku boleh buat muka kesian. Pucat semula.

“Come,”
“Sekarang ke?”
“Yelah. Takkan esok,”

Sengih.

“Now. Do whatever you want to, using anything to estimate patient’s hearing. Explain to me and to the patient,”

Gulp!
Aku rasa aku perform lebih baik. Mungkin sebab ini adalah kes dewasa, and get used to this doctor a bit and you know, practice make perfect. But still my legs shivering, hands shaking, voice trembling and pale face. Thanks to him anyway. It was hundred times heart’s violently beating when supervisor repeat the same test that we just did to confirm and it will be thousand time relief when  the same result appeared  and both doctors agreed with my findings. All the students in this world would feel the same too I guess.

The best time, bila aku menunggu Prof. Din buka mask dia and he just did! Yeah!!! Apa lagi, aku pun bukalah. Lemas seyh! Sampai sudah biarkan tengkuk yang pakai mask.

“Apsal pakai mask gitu? Bajet cool-lah?”

Cool apa. Prof. Din pun pakai gini. Hii. Just a reason, dude. 🙂

It was so tiring yesterday. Without sahur and clinic and class up to 5.15 pm. Completely in comatose state right after letak kepala atas bantal. 🙂

p/s: Percayalah. Walaupun makanan letak ajinamoto sedap, ia tak akan pernah sedap kalau letak dalam air sirap. Aku dah rasa semalam. Hihihi. 😛
